Placement tests help identify your academic skill level so you are placed and enrolled in the correct courses to achieve academic success. Students may be able to bypass math, reading and writing placement tests by showing proof of prior coursework at COD or another college or submitting a qualifying score.
Math placement requirements can be met using a prerequisite college math course, a proctored ALEKS PPL score, submitting a minimum ACT or SAT score or by achieving an A, B or C in transitional math.
Reading and writing placement requirements can be met by meeting a certain grade point average, submitting a minimum ACT or SAT score, having a prior degree or college-level credit, transferring an ACCUPLACER test or through guided self-placement. Placement testing is available for non-native English speakers.
