Can i submit AMCAS without MCAT? Chances?

I have read several other similar threads, but am still confused about the decision making.

i am taking my first time mcat in july, the score will come out in august, which is NOT early for rolling admission.

However, i have everything ready on AMCAS, should i still go ahead to sumbit AMCAS without MCAT because of rolling admission?

I have 3.5 GPA, 3.6 science, a master degree and strong LORs

thank you very much

ooo, I feel like I'm whispering after following that typeset.

I think you can submit, but AMCAS won't send it out to the schools until the day after they receive your scores.

go ahead and submit your amcas that way your transcripts will be verified and everything will be ready to go when your mcat comes in.

as far as being early for rolling admissions, you have no way to make up for that now. you're stuck till you get your mcat score back. AMCAS will just hold your application and NOT send it to schools until they receive your MCAT score. so in other words, schools will receive your application no earlier than mid-august since that's when your mcat comes in.

hey I have a related question too, I already have an MCAT score but I am retaking in June, so is there a way I can have AMCAS sent out etc and get secondaries before I get my new score in July?

the old score i have is less than 30 so I def. need a retake but should I list taking in JUNE or leave it blank to get it processed faster?

I would absolutely send my AMCAS in before my scores came out. As someone pointed out, you can begin to receive secondaries at that point. Some schools automatically e-mail you secondaries the second you submit your AMCAS (not all schools do this, but at least you'll have a head start for some). More importantly, your app will be all ready to go the day your scores are released so you will be one step ahead of the game. Also, to the OP--if you are taking the test in July don't have worries. I took it in mid-August last year and came out successful. My GPA was similar to yours and I don't have a graduate degree. Focus on the MCAT and you are good to go. Good Luck!

Unless things have changed, this actually isn't true.

AMCAS does forward your application on to the schools along with everyone else's. The only difference is that schools will not review your application until they have your MCAT score later sent to them. But in the meantime, as folks have said, you get lots of secondaries from schools that don't screen.

Thank you for your input.
May i ask that now all i can do is to list the "planning mcat data" on amcas, but what if i need to RETAKE IT after this 1st-time MCAT in July?
Thanks

Right. AMCAS does not "hold" anything. Once they verify grades they forward stuff along to schools. Then when your MCAT grades come out, they forward that along as well. So if you are confident in your MCAT abilities, it sometimes makes good sense to apply ahead of your MCAT grade to avoid being a late applicant. While schools won't do much until you are complete, you sometimes preserve a spot in the queue by getting the rest of the stuff in earlier, and schools may move on your application faster when it does get complete. The gamble though is that if you end up getting a score that is going to require a retake, you make yourself a reapplicant. So only do this if (1) your MCAT will make you a very late applicant (i.e. an August testing -- I'm not sure I would consider July late enough to take this gamble personally), or (2) you have been consistent in a ton of practice tests and are very confident in your scoring abilities.

In terms of late applicants, bear in mind that folks with good stats who apply late will still get it. It's just that with rolling admissions, they tend to be competing for fewer spots. being complete in July - August is not late, BTW. It isn't early, but it isn't late either. Taking Aug/Sept which makes you not complete until late fall is late.
